Of Cabbages & Kings and Knit with attitude are delighted to invite you to take part in a whole range of workshops, courses and events that will take place in our new shared premises. We have a welcoming, well lit and comfortable workshop area, separated from the shop, offering space to focus and be inspired.
To reserve your space to any of the workshops or courses, we ask that you pay the full fee for the individual events, you can pop by the shop to do this or book your space by visiting our Workshop section.
You can cancel your reservation up to two weeks before the event, after this the fee will not be refundable. Please note that we will cancel a course if we don’t have enough participants, in which case the fee will be refunded in full.
Join Maya for a social evening of knitting and fun. Bring your wool and needles, and let us knit together. All skill levels welcome!
We’ll provide wine and snacks, and we’ll offer 10% off all yarns on the evening.

So you are new to knitting, but fed up with only knitting scarves? Feeling ready to move on to make your first garment? Then Iago is the ideal project for you!
Iago is made using basic knitting techniques such as casting on and off, knit and purl stitches, and is suitable for anyone who knows only the very basic techniques.
The lago kit can be bought in the shop on the day of the course, and comes in a selection of different sizes:

Please note that the kit does not include needles, you will need to bring 7, 6 and 5 mm needles to class.

Get ready for your outdoor tea parties & picnics by lino printing your very own fab tea towel. Lino printing is a fun transferable skill,
which you can also use on paper to create personalised stationery or print your own bales fabric to create lots of pretty things for you and your home.
Learn to cut a lino stamp and create a fantastic design that will be yours to take home and keep.

This is a very exciting project. Within the two hours you will go through many techniques such as twisted rib, cabling, making bobbles,
simple lace knitting and the seed stitch - all in one project! You will also learn to make use of the magic loop technique, a brilliant technique for working projects in the round.
The knitting kit is included in the price, but please note that the kit does not include needles. You need to bring circular needles 4 and 5, preferably 60 cm or longer, to class.

As part of this year’s Stoke Newington Literary Festival, join artist and illustrator Ed Boxall for a unique storytelling performance and practical workshop. Ed uses huge books of paper-cut-pop-up illustrations to tell his dreamlike stories of nighttime travels. The stories are told in the dark with atmospheric lighting. The experience is rather like gathering round an indoor-campfire.
Ed will perform his poem-story 'Me and the Night Lion' and then help children and grown-ups to make their own paper-cut silhouette pop-up scenes that can be illuminated at home with artificial tea lights. All materials are included in the price- including a tea light each! Places are limited please book at Cabbages and Kings before hand.
Children £5 each, accompanying adults are free. Children must be accompanied. All are welcome, but ideal for 5 to 11 year-olds.

Learn how to knit making the lovely Misty Headband or Misty Wristwarmers.
Lovely Kari-Helene from Purl Alpaca Designs will teach you the basics and enable you to complete your first gorgeous piece of hand knitting.
As a Norwegian Kari-Helene knits and teach the Continental Knitting style, but is well experienced in the English Knitting style and will accomodate for this,
if you prefer the English style. The workshop is also suitable if you have a little bit of experience but need to refresh your skills to move on to more complicated projects.
The fee includes the Misty Kit, but please note that needles are not included. You will need to bring 5mm straight or circular needles to class.

“An Eye-Catching Performance by Typewriter Artist Keira Rathbone”
As part of this years Stoke Newington Literary Festival, Of Cabbages & Kings & Knit with attitude will be hosting a live art event. Typewriter Artist Keira Rathbone will be joining us with her typewriter and offering you the chance to have your very own eye-portrait sketched out in letters.
Come along and watch the artist at work or book yourself in for a 30minute eye appointment and walk away with a very special intimate portrait.Eye portraits are life size, typed within a 7x7cm box. The unframed portaits come with a mount and cellophane bag. Framed images come with a 10x10 mount and thin white moulding.
