IN + OUT is Sarah Beaton's first exhibition of works and is inspired by her childhood in Scotland: scaling mountains, exploring forests and living by the sea.
This series of limited edition prints are taken from original watercolours in which abstract brush strokes create a landscape that evoke a sense of place.
Her images tell stories by placing miniature figures within the paintings. Each work has a positive title and encourages the viewer to breath and reflect.
Trained and practising in theatre design, the two disciplines cross fertilise: the miniature world of the scale model mirroring the ethereal world of figures within the composition. Once the image has been established Sarah adds the figures to complete the narrative.
