Mike hall manages to conjure up the feel of old antique maps with this print. It maybe antique in feel but it is definitely not when it comes to accuracy. It displays all present-day nation states, borders, place names and disputed regions, as of spring 2018.
The shaded relief of the mountain ranges, coloured outline shading for the countries and the vignetted shading of the oceans and seas, and use of type throughout are all inspired by examples of antique maps.
All names on the map are written either in their English forms (Brittany instead of the French Bretagne; Catalonia instead of the Spanish Cataluña or Catalan Catalunya, and so on), or their native names by which they are known in English.
The design is finished with a simple, elegant border and title with scale bar, and a legend box at the bottom left corner.
