Mike Hall has created a view of Christ Church in Spitalfields, in the heart of London’s East End.
The tall spire of this magnificent building, designed and built in the early 18th century by Nicholas Hawksmoor in the English Baroque style, dominates the neighbourhood and stands on Commercial Street opposite the Old Spitalfields Market.
After a long period of neglect the building was nearly derelict by the 1960s; however restoration that began in the 1970s was completed in 2004 and the church now regularly hosts concerts, gatherings and charitable events. It remains an iconic feature of the area.
