In her series of wood engravings London based artist Jane Smith captures some familiar views of the city in miniature through this traditional relief printing technique. Engraving uses wood with a finer grain than with woodcut, allowing the artist more control over their mark making and enabling a more precise line. Two blocks with different engravings are printed over each other to create a play between colour, light and shadow.
