Sarah Beaton

Sarah Beaton is inspired by her childhood in Scotland: scaling mountains, exploring forests and living by the sea. Taken from original watercolours in which abstract brush strokes create a landscape that evoke a sense of place, her images tell stories by placing miniature figures within the paintings. Each work has a positive title and encourages the viewer to breath and reflect.

Trained and practising in theatre design, the two disciplines cross fertilise: the miniature world of the scale model mirroring the ethereal world of figures within the composition. Once the image has been established Sarah adds the figures to complete the narrative.

Sarah Beaton exhibited at Of Cabbages and Kings in 2018 with the show In + Out, her first exhibition of works and was inspired by her childhood in Scotland.
